R&M Construction CC is a family owned and managed business established in April 1986. The company was originally involved in small alterations, repairs and paving with a staff of 3 people operating from home, and has evolved over the last 34 years to become a well-established operation providing turn-key building solutions with approximately 300 employees and a range of services offered including the construction of private housing and large-scale developments, factories, offices and rental units, civil engineering and infrastructure projects, as well as refurbishments. We pride ourselves on our honesty, reliability, and exceptional service, and are proud to have won many awards over the years.

Construction of the first complete dwelling happened in 1988 and subsequent to that we have constructed in excess of 100 private dwellings in the Scottburgh to Bazley area and have been involved in many property developments ranging from 4 houses to 600 houses.

We have completed contracts for the Umdoni Municipality, Illovo Sugar, Smithchem, Albany Bakeries and Sawoti Police Station, and constructed dwellings at Selbourne Golf Estate.

We have been involved with Hibiscus Retirement Villages for the past 20 years having built 237 two- and three-bedroom cottages, and 11 one-bedroom cottages, including the infrastructure within the existing Umdoni Retirement Village and on the adjacent property.
On completion of Phase 5 in 2012 (136 cottages) we were asked to tender on the construction of the new Reception, Frail Care, and Amenities building and are proud to have won this. In July 2013 we moved on to the demolition and rebuilding of the new Hall and Entrance Gatehouse and upgraded the infrastructure.
During this time, we also tendered on and completed the Village of Happiness (Margate) New Gatehouse, Garages, and an Extension to Café Munro, showing our ability to work out of our ‘designated area’.
We are currently busy with Widenham Retirement Village, building an entire new village of 600 one-, two-, and three-bedroom homes, handing over between 8 and 10 new homes each month, as well as all the civil work and reticulation.
We also won the Tender for the Entrance Gatehouse and have recently completed this.
We’ve just been awarded the Tender for the Bowling Club and are scheduled to hand over in the next month.

We have completed the building of Abbeyvale factory complex in Park Rynie consisting of 20 medium to large size factories with mezzanine office floors.
Aloe Heights Factories in Park Rynie are also built & owned by R&M Construction, consisting of 10 medium sized factories, 6 of which have been converted into one large factory.
Additionally, we have completed storage units for the Jamerin Trust in Park Rynie, now known as ‘South Coast Storage’. Most recently, we were recently asked to quote on developing more and are halfway through with these now.

Also recently completed works include four houses in Pennvalley Golf Estate and another in Eden Rock Eco Estate.

A first for us was a constructed timber home on stilts at Milkwood Dunes in Kelso.

We have the advantage of skilled staff and many accumulated years of knowledge to install new infrastructure, civils, roadworks, stormwater drainage, sub-soil drainage, large retaining walls, and water reservoirs, to name a few.

R&M Construction CC is also part of a joint venture with Simpkins & Associates under the name Wesley Properties CC. Since 2007 we have been developing an ‘active over 50’s village’ called Lakeview Lifestyle Village. This consists of 140 units. Of these units, 56 are two and three bedroom (double garage) houses and 42 are one bedroom or bedsit units in the Central Complex. The central complex also hosts a fully equipped gym, two swimming pools (one indoor heated and one outdoor), a library, hair salon, communal kitchen with large lounge area for parties/ functions, manager’s office, laundry area, dining room/ restaurant and parking underneath. Lakeview has a comprehensive Frail Care, with 24-hour convalescent care and nursing staff.

During our 34 years of business we have evolved into three companies namely, R&M Construction CC, REG Plant Hire CC t/a R&M Plant Hire (trucks, ADTs, excavators, TLBs, Bobcats, Padfoot, Bomag Rollers – hire and sand and stone sales) and R&M Paving CC (development company).

We have been registered with NHBRC for 25 years and are members of the Master Builders Association.
